Please enable tray icon support in Linux

Asked by Cris

Would it be possible to enable tray icon support in linux?
I saw in the changelog that you did not enable tray icon support in linux due to the fact that not all linux desktops support a system tray.
However, today most linux DEs have system tray support, I feel that disabling it for that 10% of DEs that don't have support for a system tray is too much of a limitation.

Thanks for your message! Could you please research a list of distributions and whether they have a system tray? Then I can whitelist these and support the tray icon there. Enabling it for distributions that don't have a tray makes RedNotebook disappear with no way of making it visible again.

Hi Jendrik, thanks for your reply!
I'll see what I can do. I hope to get back soon with a list of viable distros.

Awesome! If you see that a distro does *not* have a system tray, it would be good to include that result in the list as well (so that we won't have to check that distro in the future).

Can you help with this problem?
