List item formatting buggy?

Hello,
RedNotebook 1.10.1, Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial
Ive been experiencing the following problem:
I want a numbered list with unnumbered sub-items :
+ ``Item``
+ ``Item``
    - ``Item``
              - Item
    - Item
    - Item

However the formatting wont work, so that I had to go over each item and replace the "-" with a "*"

+ ``Item``
+ ``Item``
    * ``Item``
              - Item
    - Item
    - Item

do Preview, and back to Edit

+ ``Item``
+ ``Item``
    - ``Item``
              - Item
    - Item
    - Item

in order to achieve the wanted formatting.

Did I miss something?

The formatting works for me in version 1.14 for the first example you provide. Changing between edit and preview mode should not change the text. Be sure to add two empty lines below the last list item.

OK, if I will switch to 1.14 I will comment on your answer. Btw why is 1.14 not listed as an official update in ubuntu 16.04 software?

Ubuntu only provides security updates after an Ubuntu version has been
released.
