Is it possible to have Markdown supported?

Asked by Lara Fuller

Besides that, you already have the whole infrastructure with bold/italic, even the preview button.

Currently markdown is not supported and there are no plans for the
immediate future. Are you missing any specific Markdown features?

I like this idea as Markdown is more commonly used and IMO has superior features. single # for header rather than enclosed = is better. Quotes in rednotebook are kind of a pain with the tabs, > of markdown seems like it would work better. Three dashes also better than twenty for line breaks. Woult solve the annoyance of having to \\ for newline. It could be an option in a future version?

I think these are all personal preferences. There is no markup language that everybody likes :-) Supporting markdown would require a huge without a significant gain.

Can you help with this problem?
