Moving data from HDD to cloud folder

Asked by Beau

Running windows 8.1, I have a the runtime copy of RedNotebook installed.
I want to move my HDD data so I can synchronize with other machines.
I installed a fresh copy of RedNotebook Portable to the appropriate sync folder.
How do I move the data from the HDD to the sync folder and get the portable version to recognize the journal?

Note: I tried copying the TXT files in the DATA from the HDD install to the Portable install on the sync drive, but no matter where I look, the OPEN JOURNAL doesn't offer anything to open.

Do I need to edit a config file on the sync folder to recognize it ??

=EDIT=

- Running RedNotebook Desktop version on windows 8.1
- Need to Convert to Portable version, but keep data intact, when I make the CFG file change to alter from Desktop to Portable, data disappears

If you are referring to PortableApps Portable version then simply navigate to the copy on HD an open then save back to desired location

Have you tried the previous suggestion? And is this the portableapps version?

- This is the NOT the Portableapps version, this is the Desktop/installer version.

- I have read that a simple line change in a CFG file changes the Desktop version to Portable, I have tried that, but seems to drop existing data. Data returns when I change CFG line back and restore it to Desktop mode.

@VF@NSR - you asked: " If you are referring to PortableApps Portable version then simply navigate to the copy on HD an open then save back to desired location"

I have stated, no less than 3 times, that this is NOT the PortableApps Portable version.

My Apologies You stated " I tried copying the TXT files in the DATA from the HDD install to the Portable install on the sync drive, but no matter where I look, the OPEN JOURNAL doesn't offer anything to open." as well as " Running RedNotebook Desktop version on windows 8.1" "This is the NOT the Portableapps version, this is the Desktop/installer version." so once you stated not portable apps version but there is another version, NO WHERE did you state that you had configured it to run portable via the program. Especially since you stated it was the desktop version.........................That being said I will let Jendrik answer
