Backup wont restore as greyed out

Using Ubuntu 12.04 Rednotebook backups wont open. They are greyed out.
Given that I have had to restore my operating system, if I cant get at my diary for the last 12 months i will be displeased to say the least.

I have upgraded to version 1.8 from 1.1.8 but that doesnt help. All jpournal files are still greyed out and inaccessable.

Remember that RedNotebook opens the *directory* containing the month
files, not the files themselves. You should unzip the month files, then
Journal->Open the directory containing them.
