Keep getting "Decompression failed" In downloading rednotebook-1.8.0-mac-osx-bundle.zip

Asked by Rick Pastor

In repeated attempts to retrieve using either

     http://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/rednotebook-1.8.0.-mac-osx-bundle.zip/download

or

      http://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/rednotebook-1.8.0.tar.gz/download

keep getting "Decompression failed" :(

Am I doing something stupid or wrong or are the files possibly corrupted on sourceforge?

Please advise!

Thanks,
     -Rick

The problem seems to be on your end I can download and unpack

rednotebook-1.8.0.tar.gz without problems.

I have the same issue, and am on Mavericks. The zip file fails to expand. If I rename it to tar.gz (based on your comment, I thought maybe the download was misnamed), gzip reports that it is not a zip file. If I simply unzip it, I get

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.

I tested it again and it works here. Try using a different download
manager or decompression program.

Jendrick - are you unzipping it on a Mac, and if so, what program are you using to unzip it? I have tried gzip, unzip, and the Mac archive application and none of them work.

Thanks for getting back on this. I tried unpacking the mac bundle again
and also got an error. The tarball was corrupted, but I fixed it.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/rednotebook-1.8.0-mac-osx-bundle.zip/download
should work for you now. Does it?

Jendrick - thanks for looking at this! It does unpack and work now. I have a bit of a different question now. It appears that RedNotebook is running under Wine instead of natively. Is there a way to get it to run natively? I did try building from source it a while back, but ran into issues.

Yes, running it natively seems to be difficult. I have no Mac, so I have
never been able to try it.

Can you help with this problem?
