Remove time constraint on entries to make RN open to notebook use, not just journal
I can see a million uses for RedNotebook, but a lot of its potential is limited by the time constraint. Each entry is attached to a date, and you can only browse entries with the little calendar— but what if my entries are spaced out? What if I have a great use for RedNotebook, like as a research notebook or planning notebook for a book I'm writing, or in my case as a student, notes for a class I take only a couple times a week, and I would just rather have a list of my entries? It would be great if such a list had the first =title= it found next to its date, or perhaps it would be even better to have two kinds of notebooks possible: one dictated by chronology or one that simply had as many entries as you wanted, and you could add dates to pages if you liked. That way RedNotebook is not just a journal, it's a real notebook free to be what I make it.
I have other ideas and I've also written a number of templates, but I suppose those are separate matters. Don't get rid of subtags by the way, I use them! I write using Cornell Notes, and RedNotebook is the best and easiest way to do it because it's not resource intensive, it's got awesome and easy formatting capabilities (bulleting notes are a breeze), and I can add a "Questions" tag with subtagged question about my notes in the right margin, which I can't easily do with any other Linux program.
Summary:
- Currently dictated by time
- My material may not be
- Make it optional to replace the little calendar with a list of entries
- Now I'm more free to organize my materials how I like
and
- Don't get rid of subtags
