RedNotebook not accessing Network drives

Asked by Ed Williams

I found RedNotebook yesterday during my annual search for something to replace my paper spiral notebook use. So far I love it. I'm using it on my work laptop with Windows 7 64bit. I have noticed when trying to add a file link that none of the network drives we have show up. Is there something I have failed to do or set up or is this normal operation? I hope there is some way I will be able to access the network drives because they are backed up on a daily basis and I prefer to save my files on our network drives for that reason.

It seems that the filechooser dialog doesn't support network volumes,
but a fix seems to be underway. May take a while before it's applied
though...

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/304345

In the meantime you might want to try adding a link manually by just
adding text.

Thank you for the feedback Jendrik. Using the "\\server\share" name in the file link works. Also using [U: ""/U:/""] for example to reference the mapped drive letter works too.
I've been trying out programs for the past 8 years trying to find a nice replacement.
RedNotebook has what I am looking for:

1) File format that can be supported by other programs in the future (.txt has to be one of the most universal types).
2) Tagging / fast search functions
3) Wiki functions
