Layout of search results (WISHLIST, GUI)

Asked by Chris

Just an idea, I have certain tags and search works fine for me (although, it would be nice to manufacture a search query thus 'filedunder:procrastination'. Colon and Equals don't seem to work, though I can use space and search in 1.4 for all posts which are tagged with a 'filedunder' tag, and perform a free-text search for the word procrastination within that filter)

It's interesting to search my entire journal for, say, 'People'. I tag my articles with the people whose names I have mentioned, so I can see at-a-glance whom I am journalling about. :) However, it makes much more sense to me to have the following layout:
Person A
|_ 2012-07-07 | This is the first 50 or so characters of the post...
|_ 2012-07-06 | Quick preview of the article...
Person B
|_ 2012-07-02 | PersonB is not very popular... :(
Person C
|_ 2012-07-01 | But at least PersonC is the same. ;)

Rather than the current method of display search results, which looks redundant. With the current model, it would appear like this:

2012-07-07 | Person A
2012-07-06 | Person A
2012-07-02 | Person B
2012-07-01 | Person C

My mockup display method also shows more useful at-a-glance information. I won't remember what '2012-07-07' was all about a year from now, but '.. ice cream sandwiches in the park, awesome day! Looking forw.. ' for instance is a lot more useful!

Just a wishlist item, I hope it's implementable x-platform, because I'm half sure that GTK allows for this sort of treeview behaviour.

Well, this is certainly a nice idea and would make scanning the results
easier, but it would complicate things a lot on the code side of things.
If someone comes up with a nice patch however, I would be happy to merge it.

Can you help with this problem?
