RNB files stored on a network server, I upgraded computer, now I cannot access my files (greyed out)

Asked by Trevor Lowe

I have been using RNB for some months and saving the files on a network server. We have moved from Novel eDirectory to Microsoft 365 and with my new account credentials I am unable to access the previous files (they appear greyed out when trying to open them). My network account login and password remained the same during the migration.

I am not a RedNotebook expert - just a user, but this does not appear to me to be a RedNotebook problem. Having the same user name and password in two network systems (EDirectory and 365) is not the same as have the same user identifier (the numerical id behind a user name), ownership, and access permisions on the files. You should contact your Microsoft 365 administrator to check file ownership and access permisiions on the files. Can you look at the accesss pemisions on the files with a file browser? You could test your access to the files by trying to open one of the problem files on the server with a text editor. If you can open them with a text editor, this problem may need another look for RedNotebook involvement.

Can you help with this problem?
