Is there a keyboard shortcut which re-position the vertical slider position (hide/un-hide the columns on the left/right) ?

The requirement is to have a distraction free view.

Sorry, no there's not and there probably won't be one as its not
possible to hide the calendar permanently, I think. The right column can
be hidden with the mouse.

Temporarily hiding the calendar would also be OK. Is there any way to configure a keyboard shortcut for doing the same ?

I'm sorry, but it seems that's not really feasible.
