How do you open multiple journals?

Asked by Doug Simpson

I have tried everything I can think of to make it let me do multiple journals but completely to no avail.

What is the method to get multiple journals. Is it possible to have more than one journal open at a time? (not a deal breaker, but would be handy for my ourposes.)

Thanks!

Doug

Sorry, currently opening multiple journals with the same RedNotebook
instance is not possible.

OK, having more than one open at a time is not a deal breaker, but I would like to know how to *have* more than one journal. How do you do that?

I figured it out. . . When you go into the Open dialog, you have to double-click on the directory for the journal you want to open.

Once you do that, you are good to go!

Thanks!
Hope this helps someone else!

Just a comment for future googlers expanding on Jendrik's first comment above re "instance"

AFAIK Rednotebook is completely "portable" in the sense of not depending on registry entries when in Windows, and therefore can be started from different locations - very handy to keep your journal on a removable USB flash drive in your pocket.

To the extent this is true (confirmation of all this would be appreciated), you should be able to simply copy your installation directory to another folder and run two instances of RN at the same time, each pointing to a different data location.

That's correct. Thanks for the explanation.
