how to use ayatana-indicator-notifications on Mate / bionic

Asked by Jean-Christophe Baptiste

Hello Jason,

I installed ayatana-indicator-notifications which, in my far understanding, is the successor of recent-notifications.

If this is correct, I do not understand how to add it to the panel, as there is no executable binary and no entry in the panel items that I can add.

Could you please indicate what I am missing ?

Thank you !

Jean-Christophe

The changes to mate-indicator-applet to use the new ayatana indicators didn't make it into 18.04. I have pushed a build of indicator-notifications to the ppa which works with mate in 18.04. I have also deleted the ayatana-indicator-notifications build from the repo, to avoid any confusion, so you should probably remove it.
