Features MIA

Asked by jonchamberlain

First of all, thanks for building this app!

Pre-Unity, your app had quite a few additional features I used all the time, specfically the ability to click on links in the notification, and the ability to copy those links. I think there was also the option to have a much longer history trail.

Do you have any plans to restore any of those features?

No current plans. On the gnome panel we could use arbitrary gtk widgets, in unity all we have are menu items. It is of course possible to embed arbitrary widgets in a menu item, as seen with the sound and date indicators, but it is pretty unpleasant.

However, you should have your whole notification history in recent versions, you just need to click the recent ones to clear them out and it will show older ones. Another unpleasant part about using menus, no nice way to scroll. You can also keep up to 10 visible at once in the gsettings.

I could increase the max from 10, and then it would be possible to show a bunch of notifications and scroll, but at least in 13.04, if the menu was larger than the screen it would hide the scroll buttons under the panel.

I suppose we could add sub menus to each notification for copy/visit links and such, but it seems kind of clunky to me. I never liked that in the gnome panel app.

I would certainly find the submenus very useful if there's enough support for it.

Can you help with this problem?
