Ubuntu 11.10 gnome 2 desktop Rhythmbox File Organiser... can't set settings?

Asked by Chris Barnaby

Rhythmbox 2.90.1 + File Organiser 2.0.1

What I Want To Do:
Edit settings for file organiser in either gconf or dconf... or manually... (no idea where to start to find them for manual changes)

I see that its mentioned in the file organiser documentation that
 * Settings are managed in Gconf (apps/rhythmbox/plugins/fileorganizer/)

However... when I go to that branch in gconf... the plugin does not appear there?

I installed dconf in case it was managed in there now instead but again... no plugin settings there either under:
under apps > nothing
under org > gnome > rhythmbox > plugins > nothing for file organiser.

I searched for a few hours to see if anyone else is having this difficulty and found nothing.

I also ran rhythmbox -D fileorganiser to see if there was any output and again ... nada.

I uninstalled both rhythmbox and file organiser and reinstalled again... still it doesn't appear in settings in either gconf or dconf so I have no way of changing these settings unless someone tells me where the configuration files are meant to live so I can manually change.

Please help!!

The config file is called fo.conf and should be in the same folder where the plugin is installed but you don't need to edit it manually.

The settings are managed inside rhythmbox now so you don't need to look for the conf:
edit -> plugins -> click fileorganizer -> click configure

If you want to change settings here is a brief explanation:

cover_enabled = Move cover art found in the album folder to the rhythmbox cache
cover_names = a list of art file names it searches for.
cleanup_enabled = Move all non-music files with your files (good for album art and text files)
cleanup_empty_folders = Additional setting to delete empty folders after moving files. (not good if you use a 'download' folder)
log_path = default is /home/$USERNAME/.fileorganizer.log
log_enabled = Enable the log
preview_mode = Preview mode does not perform any actual moving but will show you files of the possible changes.
update_tags = Update id3 tags to id3v2.4 using python-eyed3

The only settings that are managed elsewhere are the default rhythmbox settings (music library/path, etc)
These can be edited in rhythmbox preferences or using dconf.

From the current README: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lachlan-00/rb-fileorganizer/trunk/view/head:/README

The output when running 'Organize Selection' is set from dconf-editor using default Rhythmbox settings:
 * org.gnome.rhythmbox.library/layout-filename (Is the filename for your output)
 * org.gnome.rhythmbox.library/layout-path (Is the folder path for your output)
 * org.gnome.rhythmbox.rhythmdb/locations (Is your library path)

Using these, your final output becomes:
 * library + layout-path + layout-filename

Does all this make sense? I need to work on better docs and a new release soon.

Can you help with this problem?
