Why are some of the LEDs not lighting?

There is a big difference between version 0.1 and 0.1.1 of Christmas Lights: the GPIO pin order was rearranged for purposes of future expansion. So to answer the question, make sure that you have wired up the project according to the directions. Then try running it again.
It is highly recommended that you stick with version 0.1.1 or later so that you don't have to rewire the project all over again in the future.
