preferences (^P) doesn't come up for me on U16.04

Asked by Peter Teuben

Installed the latest version 0.9.0a1, seems to have gone fine. As a long time RPD user, happy to see this new version, although it didn't seem to (be able to) read the old config file. That's fine, but ^P (or preferences) didn't open a window for me, is that still expected? Is there an alternate way of manually editing a config file?

I do see a new 'Rapid Photo Downloader' directory (ahum, does RPD really need to set a precedent, it's now the only
subdirectory name with s p a c e s in the name) but no obvious entries to edit.

As I wrote on the program's website, "The version of the program described here, 0.9.0a1, is alpha quality software. Not all its features have been written—while pretty much everything under the hood has been written, some elements of the user interface that configure them have not been. The missing features are the components of the graphical user interface that are used to configure file renaming, download subfolder generation, backups, and miscellaneous other program preferences. " I also made a note of these yet to be written features in the CHANGES.rst and the README.rst, which you can download.

The next release will allow you to import program preferences from the old GTK+ version.

Spaces are in the folder name under the .config directory are there because that's how Qt 5 handles it. It's perfectly normal. If you install other Qt 5 applications you'll see the same thing.

Can you help with this problem?
