Installing icons to /usr/share/icons with the Ubuntu templates

Asked by Artem Popov

How do I install icons in my project to /usr/share/icons?

I'd like my application (https://launchpad.net/indicator-cpufreq) to support both dark and light Ubuntu themes and it requires installing themeable icons to /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-*. Is it possible with current Ubuntu templates? Can it be done manually? Thanks!

Yes, you can. See http://docs.python.org/distutils/setupscript.html#distutils-additional-files for information on how to install files anywhere you like (edit setup.py near the bottom).

I've already gone this way, but thought there might be a more "quickly-native" approach, thanks!
