Other programming languages for Quickly?

Asked by Liam Davison

I understand that Quickly is designed to be language-neutral. but there is only one existing template for writing in Python. Are there plans from the Quickly developers to write other language templates, or are you waiting for community input?

Writing a template is beyond me; I'm interested in Quickly as a way to rekindle my interest in programming, but my skills have atrophied. Python is just not for me. Vala? C#? Java? C++? Ruby? All have good Gtk+ bindings apparently.

I don't think any of the core developers are too passionate about languages other than python, so I don't expect we'll be producing one ourselves. However, we are totally open to anyone else who makes one.

Could you consider giving Python another try? If not, when you do get your head around another language, please come talk to us about creating some boiler plate for a new template for that.

Cheers, Rick
