ICR problem

Asked by Alicia Matheis

Hello
I'm new to queXF so I still try to figure out how everything works.

At the moment I struggle with the ICR process. What I did so far is to upload a couple of scanned forms and verify them without any assigned KB. The next step would be to continue the training process by manually train the characters but I can't do that because there are no characters (letters) shown to include to the training. So ICR for letters does not work at all.
If the characters are numbers (only if the input field is desclared as a pure number input and not a text field) it works to manually train them and assign them to a KB but after uploading a new form it still does not recognise the numbers correctly.

Did I miss a step or is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Kind regards
Alicia

Hi Alicia,

The steps your are following are correct.

What type were the boxes of characters you were initially trying to train on?

Are you able to share a screenshot of your form from the queXF banding screen so I can confirm?

It takes a fair amount of training data for the ICR to become accurate (around 400 instances of each character). Also the method implemented for character recognition is a bit outdated and was never highly accurate.

In our work we found it didn't improve our efficiency vs manual entry.

Hello Adam,
thanks for your quick response.

In this screenshot you can see I used numbers and text as the box types. In another form I also tried long text but neither would work to train letters at all.

If not, and if possible can you please provide access to your installation of queXF so I can debug further?
