Banding doesn't allow grouping of boxes that are not recognized when banded as a group

Asked by Dennis

Dear Adam,

when I'm trying to band this questionnaire the boxes are not recognized correctly:

This would be no problem, if I could manually group them after letting quexf recognize the boxes individually:

Is there another way of achieving the desired result (i.e. having one variable for all boxes in a row).

I tried to use the same variable name but quexf just created multiple variables with the same name.

Thanks in advance
Dennis

I've found a workaround in my case by removing the vertical lines between the boxes in the questionnaire PDF using PDF-XChange Editor.

Hi Dennis,

Glad to hear you found a workaround - but you can band individual boxes, and then once that is done you select over all the boxes as if you are banding again, and it will merge them in to one group.

Hi Adam,

I'm a little dumbfounded now that I didn't try that.

This works best in "interactive banding". In the normal banding it somehow included the space between the boxes.
But in interactive banding it works like a charm (include all coherent boxes in a rectangle and then click inside the rectangle (not on a box)).

Thanks a million!
