Could not get qid_Win XAMPP Package_1.12.2

Asked by Tobi

Hello, queXS-experts.

I installed queXS Windows installation 1.12.2 on Windows 7, and followed the installation manual in documentation section.

I used limesurvey to create a simple form, and imported it without any problems.
After printing the form, i tried to import filled pdf form by using import from direction functionality.
(I had the same problem with the demo pdf test_filled_1.pdf...)

Every time i'm importing, there ist following message:
-- pdfFinding qid...Could not get qid...

Could you please tell me, how this problem can be fixed?

Regards,
Tobi

Hi Tobi,

Can you please confirm the full filename of the queX Suite XAMPP download/installation you used?

It sounds like ghostscript is not correctly executing to extract the images from the PDF files.

Hi Tobi,

That version is quite old now - I suggest you use the exe download available here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/quexf/files/quexf/quexf-1.17.0/

Hi Adam,

thank you for your hint :-)
Downloaded Download queXSuite-queXML-1.4.1-queXS-1.11.0-queXF-1.17.0-queXC-0.9.4.exe (74.4 MB) .

Did following steps- but it is still not working. I think i did something wrong with importing the form????
Form files and screenshots kann be found here: https://goo.gl/BzxKgh

Step #1:
Tested form compatibility of my own created form quexmlpdf_754585_de.
Everything was fine.

Step #2:
Imported form from pdf file quexmlpdf_754585_de including banding file quexf_banding_754585_de.

Result was:
BARCODE: 75458501
Successfully inserted new questionnaire
Successfully loaded banding XML file
Continue by setting up page edge detection (page setup)

Step #3:
Did set up page edge detection (page setup)

Result was:
Page setup beeing updated.
Continue with page banding.

Step #4:
Did page banding.
Everything seems to be perfect- see screenshot page banding perfect.
Quitted.

Step #5:
Die Train ICR with my form.
Please choose which verifiers to include in training
There are no verifiers... Which verifiers should i select?
Clicked on button Continue training.

Tobi

Hi Tobi,

Step #5 can only be run after verification has been done by a person. This ICR training step teaches the queXF system how to recognise characters.

After Step #4 you must import your scanned forms, then assign the questionnaire to a verifier, then browse to the /quexf/verifyjs.php URL and complete verification.

Once verification is complete you can move on to Training ICR.

Hi Adam,
after a long break, verifying works now, thank you.
But i still have problems with the character recognition...

There is no data in the data output.
I created a new form with limesurvey, all files can be found here: https://goo.gl/BzxKgh
All required steps were successful, but the output shows, nothing marked on the form:

P01_SQ001,formid,rpc_id
,8,
,9,
,10,
,11,
A,12,

Tobi

Has this someting to do with page binding, or with the ICR training steps.

Hi Tobi,

I've had a look at this - it appears you have one single choice
question in the questionnaire. queXF is expecting there to be one
response only for this question. After verification you should get an
output that matches the "value" of one response only.

If you want to use character recognition you would need a field for
"text" or "numeric" input.
