queXF doesn't recognise boxes in scanned forms

Asked by Anton Farber

Hi,

I've loaded a PDF and it's corresponding banding XML as a new questionnaire in queXF (both the PDF and the XML can be found at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/38qyt34wyxen04a/AABRNOzBaTed_GE4QL41jvsGa?lst All the other pictures and files referred to below can be found there as well). The page's corner marks and the barcode are recognised properly (see "page rec.JPG"). The banding itself works fine as well (see "Banding.JPG"). However, queXF doesn't seem to recognise the form when going through a scanned copy (see "Test.pdf") of the survey. None of the boxes are aligned properly, none of "overlays" matches any of the boxes on the page (see "wrong banding.JPG"). I've tried various scan settings (playing with resolution, contrast etc.) but all to no avail. I've loaded the scanned copy into "Test form compatibility with queXF" as Adam suggested in question #246154, the corners and the barcode were all recognised properly so I'm guessing the issue can't be with the scan itself or am I wrong?

Dear Anton,

The problem here is that the form you have scanned (Test.pdf) is a different form to the template form (quexmlpdf_1.pdf). Please print a copy of the quexmlpdf_1.pdf form and fill it out, scan it and try again.

Oh my, I feel like a complete idiot... Sorry! The forms look so smiliar ... Anyway, now that I've used the correct form everything works like a charm. Thanks again for your help!
