Clarification of the purpose of the barcode required

Asked by Andy

Hi,

Would someone please clarify the purpose of the barcode in QueXF. The QueXF admin documentation states: "Please note that the barcode must be unique for each page across all forms in the queXF system.".

Is the barcode used to identify which form and associated banding has to be applied, or is it necessary to create a unique bar code for every form that will be completed by a respondent and subsequently scanned? That is; if I have 500 respondents, do I have to generate 500 forms, each with their unique bar codes in order to process them in QueXF?

What do I do if I want to have 10 different questionnaires, resulting in 10 different forms? How does QueXF determine which banding to apply.

How do I deal with multi-page questionnaires?

Thank you,
Andy.

Hi Andy,

The barcode is used to identify which form and associated banding has to be applied to it.

A unique barcode for each respondent is NOT required.

Multipage questionnaires require a separate barcode for each page. The default (as produced by queXML PDF documents) is to use a 6 digit identifying number followed by 2 digits for pages (i.e. 00000101 for page 1, of form 1, 00000102 for page 2 of form 2).
