xubuntu / xfce: how to view the lower part of long windows?

I use xubuntu 8.10 on an Acer Aspire One. This is a small portable and the screen is only 600 pixels high.

From time to time it happens that a window is higher than a screen. I have not found a way to move the window such that the upper part is hidden and the lower part is visible. This particuarly problematic, because typically the Cancel/OK buttons are at the lower end and they are not visible. So I cannot use certain windows at all. (E.g. creating a new user is not possible in the GUI)

What I've already done/tried:

- changed the system font size to 6 (the smallest one available) This helps a bit, but it's not enough.
- make the upper and lower panel hide automatically. Only a little gain.
- tried to arrange the workspaces vertically instead of horizontally so that I could see the lower part of a long window in the lower workspace. However, I could only add more workspaces horizontally, haven't found any way to change the layout.
- accessibility has a key definition for moving windows. The default is key Alt. Can this be used to move windows without the mouse? Maybe that could be used to move the top of the window out of the visible screen. However, I didn't understand how to use the whole feature.

You should be able to drag/move windows with Alt+Leftclick, and vertical resize with Alt+Rightclick (although the latter might not work with all windows).

Yes, the exact order must be

1. Press and hold ALT
2. Left-click and hold
3. drag

The mouse pointer can be anywhere in the window to make it work, but not in the title bar as I tried originally.

Alt+Rightclick allows me to increase the size of of e.g. the User Properties window. But it it does not allow to make it shorter. Probably the default size of this window is equal to its minimum allowed size. So this doesn't help in this case.
