strange characters before the font
What do the strange characters before the font mean? Are they from qpdfview or from the font itself? Where do they come from?

I am sorry to be unable to answer your question. AFAIK, these names do come directly from the PDF file and are set by the producer, i.e. I would try to figure the producer out via the document properties and continue from there.

I think this only reinforces that these font names are set by the producing application, i.e. "printing to PDF" means that a virtual printer application will produce a new PDF containing the same graphical elements while it is by no means bound to reproduce the original font embedding structure.
Can you help with this problem?
