Search in a single tab

Asked by Peter Passchier

Is there an option to only search in the current tab? I keep a number of tabs open, some with lengthy documents, and it would be great if I could do a quick search only in the current tab. I was hoping for a checkbox in the search dialog. (I would generally leave this checked unless I really wanted to search all documents that were opened.)

Hello Peter,

the search fields works in two modes:

* If you change the text and just wait or press return/enter, a search is triggered in the current tab with the normal search dock or in all tabs with the extended search dock.

* If you press shift + return/enter instead, a search is triggered in all tabs with the normal search dock or in the current tab only with the extended search dock.

From you question, I guess you use the extended search dock. Hence, pressing shift+return should search only the current tab in your case.

Best regards,
Adam

Thank you Adam. I am always amazed at all the features already built in!
I unchecked the extended search option in the settings, and now I don't even have to press Enter..!
