Could not open postscript files with qpdfview

Asked by Tadafumi

I have updated my Ubuntu system to 16.04 LTS.
The problem is about pdfviewer ``qpdfview''.

I tried to open postscript files ended with .ps or .eps, using qpdfview, but failed.
Error massage shown in my terminal is

    Unknown MIME type: "image/x-eps"
"Could not match file type of 'aaa.ps'!"

How to fix this problem? Does anyone have an idea?

Hello Tadafumi and Serhiy,

sorry for the long delay until a reply. Indeed qpdfview does probably not recognize "image/x-eps" as the MIME type of a PostScript document. It currently expects a sub type of "application/postscript" instead. I do not think that "image/x-eps" qualifies and hence will probably need to this to the list of PostScript MIME types or did you have any success with using version 0.4.16 Serhiy?

If not, please create a bug report about recognizing that MIME type and also detail the operating system version and package source used, ideally with the information from qpdfview's About dialog so we can properly fix and test this. Thank you.

Best regards, Adam.

I had a problem with DjVu only, I very rarely see any PS docs, so I didn't install the needed package. Tadafumi, there is a way to upgrade qdfview in the bug comments I've linked to, can you try it?

Hi Serhiy and Adam,

Thanks a lot for your comments.
The upgraded version of qpdfview works fine!
