Resolution of the "copy image" command

Asked by Philipp Brückmann

If you copy a picture or a text to the clipboard by the command "copy image" the resolution of the copy is not high enough for several applications. Is there a possibility to change that resolution?

Hello Philipp,

the resolution of the copy image to clipboard operation is determined by the scale factor and the resolution of the monitor, i.e. the image will be rendered at the same resolution as the displayed image. And only way to increase that is to increase the scale factor, but obviously the resulting image will be limited to the size of the monitor in pixel.

If you need a really high-resolution image version of a page from a PDF document, I would suggest to use one of the Poppler command line utilities, e.g. pdftocairo or pdftoppm to render a single page at a given resolution and crop the resulting image.

Best regards, Adam.
