Crash middle mouse button + Non-sticky 'Ctr+A'

Asked by Andy Hall

Two issues. (Revision 1628 and older)

1. Pressing the middle mouse button leads to a crash. The document somehow disappears and the application is eventually killed. (I am using a standard gnome 3 desktop)

2. Using the annotation function seems cumbersome. The 'Ctr+A' mode does not "stick" -- once something has been highlighted, the annotation mode is turned off again.

Hello Andy,

1. Just pressing the middle mouse button should try to zoom to the selected rectangle. If the rectangle is empty, we'll try to divide by the width and height and will probably crash on divide by zero. Trunk revision 1629 should have the fix.

2. The current idea is that panning is what is done most of the time with copying to clipboard or adding an annotation being an interruption of that. Hence the idea to make it end automatically after it was used once. If more complex editing features are added in the future, a "sticky" current tool might be more useful, but currently I find the de-emphasis of the function to corresponding with its limited functionality.

Best regards, Adam.

Hi Adam,

Great! Thanks for the fast fix on the zoom.

In terms of the second issue, it might be worth reviewing whether panning is really the prime mode of navigating through a document or whether "Scrolling" / "Page Up-Down" mainly facilitates navigation as one reads. Either way, thank you kindly for your effort and swift answers.

Best wishes,
Andy
