Asked by Amir

No idea what's wrong. I don't see this problem in other qt based applications

Hello Amir,

sorry that I can't be of more help, but the first links seems to unreachable and I am not sure what to look for on second image which looks normal at a first glance. Can you try to make a side-by-side comparison or something like that?

However, there is one major change in the version you switched to when switching to 14.04 which is that qpdfview now uses Qt5 instead of Qt4. This would also explain why other Qt applications don't look that way as they might still use Qt4. Could you experiment with changing the font settings?

Best regards, Adam.

I'm orry about the first image link. Here's a new comparison image

The pref window in the back is from Double Commander which uses Qt4 toolkit

I see. Is it not possible to change the text rendering behavior in Qt5?

I tried changing to a couple of other fonts but they look just as blurry

Hello Amir,

I am not sure where exactly the problem is, but as your comparison with double commander indicates, it is probably a Qt4 versus Qt5 configruation/integration problem. (Maybe just check another Qt5-based application to be sure.)

Concerning a solution, the probelm is often related to a Gtk-based desktop environment (Unity resp. GNOME in your case) and Qt not communicating correctly concerning settings, styles or themes. Hence I can only suggest to search for other people with Ubuntu and Qt font problems. (One note on the Arch Linux Wiki mentioned that the GNOME Tweak Tool might be useful.)

Best regards, Adam.

Can you help with this problem?
