qimo user UID 500 choice

Asked by Yaum

Hello, I noticed that the qimo user is assigned a UID 500, which makes it a "not normal" user. Is there a specific reason, for setting this user as a system user?
Could I set back the UID in the 1000-1500 range, without having problems? (This is in order to user timekpr, a small proggie to allow connection time for the kids)
Thanks

I used a UID < 1000 because the qimo user account is created before the install, and having a UID >= 1000 was causing problems when adding new users. Once it's installed, you should be able to change the UID to something else. Future versions of Qimo will create the user after-install or during the LiveCD boot, like Ubuntu currently does.
