Can't run or install on Gateway Celeron Desktop

Asked by GregL

When I try to run the CD or install from the CD, I get this:

BusyBox v1.13.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1ubuntu11) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs) stdin: I/O error
mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: No such device
Can not mount /deev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs

If I press ENTER, I get (initramfs) on a new line every time ENTER is pressed.

I have 2 GB of RAM in the computer so I don't think it is a lack of available memory.

Any ideas? The CD runs fine on other computers.

Thanks,
Greg

It could be bad RAM, or some other bad hardware. That is usually the cause of this kind of error. The CD has a memory check option when you first boot, I'd suggest running that to start with.

Can you help with this problem?
