Saving Desktop Icons / Loading Screen Savers

I have loaded Chrome and VLC and am unable to save the icon on the Desktop. When I goto Network or Multimedia and right click on the respective Icon it starts the program. I would like to drag them to the Desktop so my 3 year old does not have to look for them.

How can I load the Screen savers listed. They have a check mark beside them, bu state not installed.

File and shortcut icons are disabled by default on the Qimo desktop, so even though they may exist in your user's Desktop folder, they will not be visible on the desktop itself. You can re-enable them by right-clicking the desktop, going to Desktop Settings, the Icons tab, and changing Icon Type to "File/Launcher Icons".

For the extra screen savers, install the following packages from Menu->Settings->Synaptic Package Manager:

xscreensaver-data-extra
xscreensaver-gl-extra
