Video starts shaking/rolling

Asked by GregL

I have a Compaq EVO N800w mobile workstation. It has an ATI Rage video card with 64 MB of RAM. Every so often, the video starts shaking/rolling horizontally. When I did an online update, a report showed that I had a "broken" package, but I couldn't get any details. I saw a FAQ where another user reported strange behavior with an ATI card and they too mentioned a broken package. Is there a driver update I need to apply?

I'm closing this issue since it seems to be hardware related. I installed Qimo on a totally different laptop and it is running as it should. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on the previous laptop and am getting the video issues with that OS. It seems to get/be the worst when a terminal window is opened or during bootup/shutdown.

Long story short, it's not Qimo, it's the laptop.
