Should qBittorrent Stop Listening on port 6881 when all torrents are paused?

Asked by Jeffery Fernandez

I have a strange issue when I pause "all" torrents for an extended period of time. This is usually done every night. When I return in the morning, my whole network is slow. I have to manually reboot the router to get it functioning normally. Would this be caused by unwanted traffic poking at my machine because port 6881 is still open (even though all torrents are paused) thereby causing trouble to my router?

Should qBittorrent start listening on port 6881 only when you start a torrent or "all" torrents? Or maybe open the port on start-up by default, but always close when not needed and open it when needed?

Could you please ask this question to libtorrent's author (hydri)? This may be a bug in libtorrent. Or at least he may have an idea of the reason that cause this. Keep me posted if he says I should fix something in qBittorrent.

I think it is better to find the source of the problem instead of just avoiding it by not listening on the port when not necessary.

Can you help with this problem?
