Stalled torrents.

Asked by Richard Davies

I used qbittorrent for a while some months ago but had a problem with my hard drive. i saved the partially downloaded torrent files from the qBT_dir. Then after i had re-installed Ubuntu and qbittorrent, I was left with all the previously, part downloaded files, that I had saved. Please is there a way of putting these back into Qbittorrent without having to search for and start them all from new?

Thank you.

Richard.

If you backed up only the downloaded files and not the .torrent files themselves, then you will need to search online for the corresponding .torrent files online.

Then, once you add these .torrent files to qBittorrent, update the save path so that it points to the directory where you have your partially downloaded files. qBittorrent will detect those already existing files, recheck them and resume their download.

Next time, you should also backup qBittorrent configuration folders:
~/.config/qBittorrent and .~/.local/share/data/qBittorrent/
to avoid this issue. .torrent files are saved by qBittorrent in this second folder while program preferences are saved in the first one.

Thanks yet again. I don't know what I'd do without you.
