TCP/IP for communication with SMAPI

Asked by David Mittelstädt

Hi,

we are currently testing Feilong in our zLinux, z/VM environment. We are wondering why the communication between the BYOL and SMAPI is done with IUCV. Is it possible to use TCP/IP for this communication? We have 5 SSI clusters with 2 z/VMs each cluster. How many BYOL servers do we need for using Feilong on every cluster? We hoped that we can use a single BYOL node to administer every cluster.

Best regards,
David Mittelstädt

this is because our previous implementation (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zvm/6.4?topic=zvm-cloud-manager-appliance-cma, sorry it's not supported any more)
is using one mgmt to manage multiple z/VM and it turn out have pros and cons so we decided to move from 1:n model to 1:1 model now, the design is to leave the 1:n logic to upper layer such as openstack or vRA etc and feilong is focusing on 1:1 manage to z/Vm

I am more than happy to discuss and cooperate if you have interest in adding additional stuffs to support this 1:n model on top of existing 1:1 model, which is , maybe add another folder in feilong and focus on running SSI related stuffs ,for example, run a daemon that can manage 2+ feilong server and doing SSI/LGR between them
