How to do delete region or block

Asked by fzhang00

Hi,

I installed python-mode 6.1.1 under Ubuntu. When I hit backspace or DEL, regardless whether I have a region selected, the command delete only 1 character. Is there anyway to configure the command to delete a block of code?

I'm sorry if this is obvious. I'm new to emacs and python-mode. Thanks.
