checkin 745 of python-mode.el serious stuffed

I wanted to put in a bug report on imenu behaviour and downloaded r745 of python-mode.el prior to doing it, but this version doesn't seem to work at all!

In fact, when I load emacs it seems to load the default python-mode even though all I have done is copy the new python-mode.el into the place when Emacs expects to load python-mode (and where the previous version of the file was being correctly found and loaded).

so something is seriously broken :-)

these part is not for pure bug reports, rather to discuss usage or development.
Will mark this invalid or try the "reject"-button.
