No sound in new 64-bit installation

Asked by insightceo

I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 LTS 64-bit on an Everex with an ALC882 soundcard. I have many options in the sound preferences menu: PulseAudio, ALSA, OSS, and ALC882 Digital and Analog. None work. Volume is properly adjusted manually on the machine. Master volume at max. Audio fine in Vista Home Premium 32-but. Not other problems with installation.

Everex xt5000t Turion 64x2 TL-50

Thanks... Erich

Hi Erich,

I found a thread about this problem: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/no-sound-hda-intel-alc882-ad-ubuntu-8.10-fresh-install-680344/

I think you scroll to the end of the site and there are answers of your question.

Good luck

Torsten

Did not solve the initial problem, update required to 8.10. Once updates, the link above activates all system speakers. Thanks.

I am however curious how this got into the PySQLPool Answers area. Is this a bug in Launchpad?
