pygcstats itself does keep everything it needs in memory, namely the GPX file and the databased used to generate the statistics. The data base is not persistent, which means it is not saved to disc.

The only disc access is reading the program files (of course) and reading the GPX file.
Write access happens when the generated HTML file is safed to your home directory. The file is overwritten every time it is generated, pygcstats does not created any backups etc.
