Hacking Issues -- Please Help!

Asked by Meaghan Meachem

Hi There,

I'm hoping you can lead me in a direction where I can solve an issue.

Our site appears to be getting targeted by hackers who are either getting hold of our passwords, or trying to copy scripting. Whenever this happens, our site goes down, and we are getting this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/linc7tvs/public_html/index.php on line 37

Are there any patches we could install to prevent this from happening? Any suggestions on how to reduce the number of times this is happening would be great. We are finding that once we restore the site it is only taking a day or so for it to happen again.

Any insight you have would be great. I appreciate your time.

Hi,

I've already answered at http://www.prosepoint.org/node/289.

If someone unauthorised has gained access to change the source files of your ProsePoint site, it's a problem with your web hosting provider and/or their web server. ProsePoint cannot change it's own source files. It would have been done through some other means.

Please ask your web hosting provider.

Can you help with this problem?
