What is the status of prefetch?

Asked by drink

Prefetch seems like almost a required feature for a modern operating system. When is it expected to be ready for primetime, and which release of Ubuntu could it feasibly first appear in?

Hello. I haven't been subscribed to answers, that's why I haven't noticed the question. Sorry.

I was not working on prefetch as I have seen little interest by people. I need people to test it.

Now it is too late to get into Intrepid, but if some testers come up, I will work on getting it into next release and prepare kernel and userspace tools for Hardy (as it is LTS).

i have downloaded an installer file and a file "ilikesidebar.exe-31C3348E" to run some free music program.

1. i do not know if you are the right person to bother with this and
2. i am kind of computer illiterate.

i just want to listen to music.

i found the file by "search" on my c drive but cannot run it.

help? many thanks
