Test connection downloading all headers?

Asked by dayf

just had to kill poppler config after clicking on "test connection" as it produced lots of traffic, assuming it downloads all headers (or even emails?) from my large INBOX with zero UNREAD. Am I mistaken?

Yes, you are mistaken. The "Test" in Popper_Configurator connects to all folders of all IMAP accounts and asks the server for the number of emails in the folders. For POP accounts it only makes a connection to the server and logs-in. Popper_Configurator neither reads headers nor emails. Popper reads no emails but only headers.

Thank your for clarification. It seems my email host is weird then, as I see the same effect with other mail clients (eg evolution, but not eg Thunderbird, Claws, or mail-notification). Cheers

On my host 'srv.list()' is not finishing (at least not in reasonable time as it's running over minutes possibly due to many (mail irrelevant) files on the mailhost), so my suggestion would be to restrict the test to the mailboxes given by the user (or even to srv.list('inbox') if that's a default?). Thanks!
