Default spell check language

I am using Ubuntu 12.04. I want to set Croatian as my default spell check language.
English is always selected. I have change it to Croatian in Language settings, but no effect.
It works correctly in Gedit.
Is this a bug or I am missing something?
Same thing happens in Gwibber so it's not Polly's fault.

This seems like a bug in the GtkSpell library that Polly and Gwibber use.
