packaging related questions

Asked by 569874123

Hello once more.
I am curious as to what are the requirements for a game to be packaged and how to organize the request so that me and others can make the packaging easier(for example: say what is the latest version, link to source code, what kind of license, description to game etc...).
This question emerged due to the fact that, i have seen some games being rejected, because the game's latest version already is in the official repos or the source not being available (please correct me if i am wrong), although i see some games being packaged that are not open source(example: Urban Terror), which confused me :P.
Another question is if third-party game content to the games hosted in playdeb might be packed into debs as well?
Before leaving i have to congratulate all of those who contributed for this project.
With best regards.

569874123,
Your requests are good.
we do check to see if the source is available. This is the best way we check the license to see if it permits packaging free software.
We check to see if it requires others sources to run like the data files wad files from a program you will have to be purchase to play. If your program is under a source that permits useage it can be done, but we prefer it to run from items we can freely distribute.
We like Source but people like to protect certain code they place it under LGPL for libraries (lib files).
We package it like before just put in the right directories etc.

If the binary in an installable then it created a single .bin .run file from a script. It usually is not available for us to package.
