Icon Zoom is removed from preferences?

Asked by Digvijay Rathore

I am using plank on my Ubuntu 20.04. Yesterday, I updated my packages using

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
After that, the plank feature "icon zoom" is missing in plank preferences. I am using plank version 0.11.89 got from plank --version.

Is the feature removed?

This feature was *not* removed upstream.

Make sure you are using the ubuntu/debian distro package or a build from https://launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/ubuntu/docky

Inspect the output of "apt-cache policy plank"

The output of above command is:

plank:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.11.89+git20200705.20c16a0b-0ubuntu1~20.04~ricotz1
  Version table:
     0.11.89+git20200705.20c16a0b-0ubuntu1~20.04~ricotz1 500
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/ricotz/docky/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
     0.11.89-1 500
        500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages

There are two versions.

So you have no (official) package of plank installed.

However better figure out where your current version is coming from while it might still cause issues.
"dpkg -l | grep plank" might give you some clue where it came from.

"apt install plank" should get you back in a normal state.

I have uninstalled and installed the package from apt.

plank:
  Installed: 0.11.89-1
  Candidate: 0.11.89-1
  Version table:
 *** 0.11.89-1 500
        500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

 The issue is resolved.
Thanks.

Hello, I installed Fedora 34 to a machine. There is the same error on that.

Is this gossip (http://tygern8r.com/enable-plank-zoom-in-fedora/) true, the problem come from an AAPL conflict or it is my fault? I tried a lot of things but I could not bring back this function. :(

Thanks in advance!

We changed from Fedora to Arch linux. I regret that I did not do this before. Significant performance difference and btw, the Plank still has got this feature.
