Requesting a (GTK2) panel wrapper

Would there ever be a GTK2 panel wrapper for Plank some time in the future? I would love to use Plank, but don't want to abandon my present panel setup to have it, nor could I fit a dock into the top of my window, and I really, honestly don't want a dock to either side. Being able to use Plank as a very simple replacement for the default window switcher in MATE, for instance might be what some users want.

If ther is something similar that can already do this, I'm open to try, I just remember DockX being installable inside of Avant Window Navigator back in the day and I'm curious if Plank could be made to do something similar in other panels.

For the time being, there's the mate dock panel which is a part of Ubuntu MATE, otherwise installable from webupd8's PPA. This might consider the thread solved, but I will allow you to determine that at your own discretion.
