Pandora does not support your client version

Asked by Kyle Restly

The summary pretty much says it all. That error pops up before login. Never had any problems with it before. The only difference is the location I'm running the service from, a hotel. I've reinstalled and still get the same problems. I'm running version 0.3.9-1~ubuntu

Thanks in advance,
TRG

Pandora updated the protocol a few days ago, so you need to update to Pithos 0.3.10. It's not in the official Ubuntu repositories yet, so you'll have to install it from my PPA [1] or wait a few days for Ubuntu to distribute the updated version.

Thanks Kevin. I think you've mentioned this somewhere in the past or someone else did. Memory needs an update. Ubuntu repository doesn't have any quick updates for my brain. Anyway, thought this was the issue. The important thing is not the problem, it's that the program is still maintained and swiftly updated, which is fantastic. Pandora is only doing their thing, no bad guys here. Except maybe the Ubuntu repository. Damn you and your lack of human brain-related updates! Again, much thanks.

Hi Kevin! I have been using the PPA and updated to 0.3.10 but no joy for me. Also: the "About" window still shows 0.3.9.. Don't know if that means the update did not work.. or.. you did not update the "About" window. ;)

Either way, the error is the same. Pianobar has the same problem complaining that I should update "libpiano".
Thanks!

You may need to kill off the old pithos which seems to hang around in the system even after installing the new version. Just closing the app leaves the process running (probably for the notification area).

e.g. kill <pid> or just reboot.

The PPA version (today installed 0.3.11) works for me and definitely shows an updated version number in "About".
